Nita Smith

Nita Marie Smith, 60 years old, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025. Nita was born on August 28, 1965, to Jerry and Martha Smith in Waco, Texas and passed away at her home in Glen Rose, Texas.

Nita was one of God’s special children. She was born with epilepsy and cerebral palsy and was unable to walk or talk during her life on earth. Nita lit up when she attended church and listened to the gospel music every week at the facility where she lived. Despite her disability, she laughed and got so excited during that time.

Nita was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her sister Karla Ryno and her husband Donny of Rainbow, Texas and by two brothers, Thomas Smith of Waco, Texas and Truman Smith of Rainbow, Texas. She also had several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

We would like to acknowledge the wonderful staff of Cherokee Rose Nursing Home in Glen Rose, Texas who loved her like she was family, and you could tell she loved them also. The family finds their peace knowing that she is dancing and singing with her Heavenly Father for eternity.

Nita will be laid to rest next to her parents at Rose Mound Cemetery in Waco, Texas with graveside services being held at 11am. on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, with Pastor Larry Potts officiating the service.
