Norman “Oz” Woolsey, 94, of West Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 3:39 AM at the Fairview Rehabilitation and Healthcare in DuQuoin.
He was born January 4, 1931 in Springfield, Illinois to Robert L. Woolsey and Geneva ( Stephens ) Woolsey.
He was married to Rita Joan ( Miller ) Woolsey and she preceded him in death on July 3, 2015
Norman loved to hunt and fish and always enjoyed working in his garden. He was a member of the Trinity Global Methodist Church in West Frankfort. He served in the United States Marines during Korea.
He is survived by a son, Kevin (Nancy) Woolsey of Benton, 3 daughters, Vicki Woolsey of Sesser, Nancy (J.C.) Crawford of Bluford and Tammy Morgan of Creal Springs. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as a sister, Barbara Snow of Petersburg, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rita Joan Woolsey, son, Eric Woolsey, grandaughter, Abbie Woolsey and by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at the Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort with Pastor Danny Motta officiating.
Visitation will be after 9:00 A.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion of Orient and Zeigler and the VFW.
