Joseph Sawey

Joe Sawey, 66, of Reynoldsville, PA, died peacefully in his favorite recliner on

October 13, 2025. Joe was born on November 15, 1958, in Paterson, NJ.

While Joe enjoyed his days in North Jersey, he fell in love with the

Pennsylvania woods and took great pride in perfecting his chainsaw skills. Joe

was deeply proud of his kids, who will continue knocking down doors in his

honor. He will be remembered for his ability to strike up a conversation with

anyone, his quadruple bread slice sandwiches, the whistle (he knows which

one), his generosity in supporting the ASPCA and other causes close to his

heart, and his (questionably) unwavering dedication to the New York Jets.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jean Sawey, and his

sister Janet. He is survived by Marge Sawey, his longtime partner, and his

children, LT Dan Sawey, JAGC, USN of Annapolis, MD, Dr. Megan Sawey

(Lucas Wright) of Ithaca, NY, Matt Sawey of Reynoldsville, Police Officer

Jeremy Sawey of DuBois, and Joey Sawey of Reynoldsville. He is also

survived by his brother Larry (Sandy) and his sisters Mary Jean, Sharon,

Michele, Eileen (Dennis), and Terri (Jim); many nieces and nephews; and the

family cats and dogs.

The family will hold a private memorial service. A celebration of Joe’s life

will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA at https://www.aspca.org/ or

your local animal shelter.

Life is beautiful and so unpredictable. Rest easy, Jersey Joe.
