Gloria Stevenson

Gloria Holloway Stevenson entered eternal slumber on September 2, 2025.

She was born on October 10, 1944, in New Orleans, but raised in

Paincourtville, Louisiana, to the late Freddie Holloway Sr. and Phrizine

Young Holloway. She was the fourth of five children in a close family.

Gloria was married to her late husband, Matthew Stevenson Jr., for over 50

years. His military service gave them the opportunity to travel widely before

they settled in Colorado Springs, which became their long-time home.

A proud mother, Gloria is survived by her two children, Cassandra

Stevenson Horne (Shawn) and Matthew Lance Stevenson. Her

grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she was immensely proud of all

they accomplished. Shawn F. Horne Jr., Jayla L. Horne, Jaylan L. Horne,

and Ciera M. Groves adored their Nana equally as much, and will

remember her fondly.

Gloria was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and later became a member

of Fresh Start Baptist Church, where she remained active in her faith and

community.

She is also survived by her siblings Freddie Holloway Jr. and Vivian

Holloway. She was preceded in death by her siblings Allonia Holloway

Rankin and Albert Charles Holloway.

Gloria will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and commitment to

her family.
