Edith Kubas March 19, 1933 – September 12, 2025
Edith Kubas, a lifelong resident of Chicago, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born on March 19, 1933, to Anthony and Sophie Kubas, Edith spent her entire life in the family home where she and her twin sister, Esther, were raised. She was a devoted sister to Esther Kubas, Raymond Kubas, Leonard Kubas, and Lorraine Thomas, cherishing a deep bond with her siblings throughout her life.
Edith was the first in her family to attend college, graduating from DePaul University with a degree in business after earning a scholarship from Lourdes High School. She went on to have a successful 28-year career as a business customer service consultant with Itel Railcars, now part of GE.
A woman of many passions, Edith loved dogs, traveling, walking, and exercise. She was known for her youthful spirit and timeless beauty, often receiving compliments for looking far younger than her years. She treasured time with her senior group at St. Richard’s Parish, where she was a lifelong parishioner, and enjoyed the company of her best friend, Marion.
Edith’s intelligence, quick wit, and love of reading left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, her faith, and the laughter she shared with her sisters, Esther and Lorraine.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Karen Kubas, Denise Kubas, David Thomas, Mary Ellen Tong, and Judith McCormick; great-nieces and nephews: Michael Tong, Allyson McKnight, Julie Malone, Katie McFarlane, Brandon Kraft, Lauren Thomas, Jane Weiss and Steven Thomas; and many beloved great-great nieces and nephews.
Edith will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
