Donald Barber

Donald Lewis Barber, 94, of Georgetown, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2025, passing peacefully at his residence surrounded by love and family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doris Barber, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage marked by love, faith, and devotion; his parents, Lewis and Maggie Barber; and his son-in-law, Gary Hardin.

He is survived by daughters Donna Hardin (Gary), Sharon Clark (David), and Tina Justice (Stan); grandchildren Bry Hardin (Elizabeth), Julie Tackett (Matthew), Matt Hardin, Mary Beth Stubenrauch (Brian), Amanda Justice, and Tyler Justice; and great-grandchildren Grace (Mac), Hunter, Anna Kate (Chris), Asia, Landon, Mercy, Julianne, Emily, Micah, Tyndale, Zoe, Caroline, Creed, River, Davy, and Rylan. He was also blessed with a great-great-grandchild, Moriah.

Don graduated from Great Crossing High School and began a 30-year career with IBM, serving as a manager in Quality Control. A gifted athlete, he excelled as a fast-pitch softball pitcher and enjoyed the challenge and camaraderie of the game. He was also an accomplished golfer, spending many days on the course with friends and family. His love for sports took root as a teenager when he played basketball as the center for Great Crossing, and that passion continued throughout his life. Whether on the field, on the court, or watching from the stands, he remained a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Wildcats.

Faith was the foundation of Donald’s life. For 67 years, he was a devoted member of Highlands Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a deacon before being named deacon emeritus. He found joy and fellowship in Everybody’s Class, where he spent many years building friendships and taking part in Sunday School activities. His steady presence, servant’s heart, and love for his church family left a lasting legacy of faith that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Above all, Donald will be remembered for his love of family, his unwavering faith, and the many lives he touched through friendship, work, and service.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Highlands Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service.
