Mark Evans

Mark D. Evans, 71, of Floyd, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 19, 2025. He was born in Utica on March 15, 1954, a son of the late David and Vera (Godding) Evans. On May 15, 1999, he was united in marriage to Mary Alguire.

Mark was a school bus driver for over 25 years, retiring from the Utica School District. He was a huge hockey fan, and loved following his grandson’s team from rink to rink throughout the Northeast. He also had a love for hot rods and classic cars, and he spent many years working on them with his nephew, Samuel Saponaro (Shelby).

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Mary; two stepchildren, Nicole Capodifero and Matthew Cochi (Alicia); two adored grandsons who were the light of his life, Brandon Capodifero and Andrew Thompson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Sapanaro and Charlene Gridley.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 29th at 1:00 p.m. at Townsend Cemetery in Stittville. There are no calling hours. In honor of Mark, please consider planting a tree in his memory.
