Ernest Maestas

On the evening of Sunday, September 14, 2025, Ernest, who was home with his loved ones Ernest began his final journey home, he would no longer be in pain.

Ernest was born on March 21, 1942, in Arroyo Hondo (Taos) N.M. As a child, he moved to San Francisco, CA. There, it would become his home. At 18 yrs old, he enlisted in the Navy.

Years later, he would meet the love of his life, Bertha. They would be blessed by God and share 54 years of a beautiful life together. Bertha was the love of his life. From their love, they began their family. They raised two children.

Their first daughter, Elizabeth Ann Gomez (his son Rodolfo Sr.), who has always been more of a son to Ernest.

Their son Ernesto Maestas. His daughter Alejandra Calvo married Anthony Calvo Sr. And they blessed Ernest and Bertha three great-grandchildren. Hector III, Leandra, and Anthony Jr.

Ernest was a very loving man and his family was his pride and joy. He experienced many adventures with his beloved with and family on many travels all over the world. He was a very faithful man of God and always ready to help where he was needed. Whether it was vouleering for an event, help painting the church, etc.

He belonged to the Native Sons and other clubs and organizations. Ernest worked for the city of SF for many years as a painter.

He will be sorely missed by his family including siblings, many nieces, nephews, God children, and so many friends.
