Seymour Hionas

Seymour Hionas, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on September 15, 2025, at the age of 101. Born on December 26, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY, Seymour’s life was a testament to the gentle strength that characterizes a life well-lived. He was a devoted husband to his late beloved wife, Jean Hionas, a loving father to his daughter Jan Hionas Curran, and son William Steven Hionas, who, along with his wife Jana, cherished Seymour’s guidance and warmth. His legacy extends to his adoring grandchildren, Jennifer Hionas Colacurto and her husband Michael, Margaret Curran, Alexander Curran, Kristina Hionas Leonforte and her wife Adina, Thomas Hionas and his wife Gina, and Jessica Hionas, as well as his great-grandchildren, Demi Jean Colacurto, Michael Colacurto, and Hailey Lynn Hionas, who will all miss his gentle presence.

Seymour’s journey through life was marked by his commitment to education and his community. A proud alumnus of New York Polytechnic University, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, which paved the way for his initial career as an engineer with Nabisco. His passion for building and nurturing soon led him to join the family real estate business, where he excelled as a broker and manager. Seymour’s professional life was distinguished not only by his keen intellect but also by his unwavering integrity and fairness.

A man of faith, Seymour lived his Christian beliefs through his actions, always extending a hand to those in need. His interests were as varied as they were enriching—he was an avid reader, a lover of the sea who found joy in sailing, and a fan of the cerebral challenge posed by the television show Jeopardy. These pastimes were reflections of a mind always eager to learn and live a peaceful life.

Seymour’s character was the embodiment of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Indeed, Seymour’s life was a tapestry of successes, not measured in accolades or achievements, but in the countless lives he touched with his loving and generous nature.

As we bid farewell to Seymour Hionas, we celebrate the gentle mark he left on the world—a legacy of kindness, compassion, and love that will continue to inspire his family and all who knew him for generations to come. His was a life truly well-lived, and he will be deeply missed.
