Troy Allen Slot passed away on June 18th, 2024, at the age of 64. Resilient as he was, it was bacterial meningitis which ultimately tipped the scale. On February 15th, 1960, Troy was born in Ogden, Utah, to his parents, Phyllis Crosbie and Jerry Slot. Though he roamed near and far, usually with a skip in his step, he always managed to find his way back to his stomping grounds.
A man of many talents, Troy was truly brimming with potential from the start. His first passion was horses. First to ride them, really fast, and later on to train them. It was June of 1976 when he received his Apprenticeship Certificate from the Racing Commission of Idaho. He would go on to win, or place in, many races all throughout the western states. At a certain point, Troy got too tall to race, and found a new calling in working with the horses. Folks began to call him the “Horse Whisperer.”
One thing that Troy will always be remembered for was his optimism and giving nature. Not one person was beyond helping, no matter how low they got, or what the cost to Troy. He would be the first one there, ready to jump in, with a smile on his face. Even in working construction, which was his main profession in life, he was quick to learn every role so that no part of the job was compromised. He was well rounded, and made his living with hard work, all while supporting those around him.
Troy is survived by his three beautiful children, Dylann, Delaney, and Eric. As well as by his sister and best friend, Robin. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry, and his dear mother, Phyllis, who he will be near to always in their final resting place.
Ever illustrious, Troy was known as many things to many people. An honest wrangler, an adventurous outdoorsman, a charming storyteller, and even an artist with a keen eye for drawing. For all these things, and many more, he will be remembered. For his joy, his kind heart, and his laughter, he will be sorely missed. May his spirit shine, and continue riding along plains of golden light, for now and for always.
A Celebration of Life is being prepared and will be announced by the family at a later date.

In the spirit of Phyllis, we ask that you get flowers for a loved one, who can still enjoy them.
Troy would have liked that.
