Tommie Lee Dixon
- December 23, 2021
Our protector, provider, warm and generous father, Tommie L. Dixon, was born August 6, 1953, to Burrell and Mable Dixon in Cleveland, Ohio. Our dad, the youngest of six children, established a strong belief in Christ at a very young age, guided his household in strong faith and professed his gratefulness to his Holy Father, daily.
As a confident charming romantic, our dad, swept our mom, Jennifer Joyce Dixon (who preceded him in death) off her feet at a very young age and the two were married for over forty years. To see Tommie and Jenny interacting together was to witness passion in its truest form. We witnessed them on many nights break out into impromptu ballroom dances or two-steps and with dad serenading all of us with his favorite love song, “Can I” by Eddie Kendricks.
To their union two beautiful daughters were born, Ebony L. Dixon and Cinnamon D. Dixon. Although, our dad never missed a moment to share how much he loved his girls, was very proud of their accomplishments and professed out loud to God for giving him daughters, the one that brought him immeasurable joy, is his fearless grandson, Cameron J. Dixon. Our dad’s face lit up with loving amazement each time Cam entered the room and he always wanted to hear what Cam had to say.
Our father subscribed to a tireless work-ethic in the automotive and truck parts business that provided him the opportunities to move his family comfortably from Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Virginia and back to Ohio. It was extremely important to our dad that his family knew that the world was ours for the taking and that there were excellent opportunities beyond our immediate state of residency.
In his moments of free time, our upbeat father could be found cycling through the streets of Cleveland, roller-skating through Woodhill Park, or restoring cars in the backyard and in later years glued to the tv watching Judge Judy.
As we reflect on a life fully lived, we will deeply miss our father, Tommie L. Dixon. He has now passed the mighty baton to the remaining members of his family. He would want us to keep smiling, laughing, and living as it is uplifting to the spirit. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5-6
Cherished memories of Tommie will be held by his daughters, grandson, sisters, brother and a host of family and friends.
