Jonathan Underwood
Mr. Jonathan Churchwell Underwood, age 40, of Guyton, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
He was born on June 5, 1985, in Columbus, Georgia, the beloved son of the late Billy Bryant Underwood, Jr. and Tammy Horne Driskell. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later pursued a career in aviation, working as a Senior Airworthiness Inspector for Gulfstream Aerospace. He completed his A&P certification, marking a commitment to excellence in his field.
Jonathan had a deep love for the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed smoking cigars, sipping whiskey, fishing on quiet mornings, firing up the grill for a good BBQ, and cheering on Georgia football. His laughter, loyalty, and larger-than-life personality made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Garrett Brock Underwood; daughter, Abigale Rose Underwood; his stepfather, Keith Driskell; siblings, Amy Underwood Fallings, Bryant Walter Underwood, Logan Heath Driskell, Morgan Lynsey Driskell; and his uncle, Bruce Rowell Underwood. In addition to his parents, Jonathan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Billy Bryant Underwood, Sr. and Alice Faye Rowell Underwood.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Almon Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Almon Funeral Home. Those attending the funeral are asked to wear your Georgia Bulldog attire or red, black and white colors.
Interment will follow at Carroll Memory Gardens, with military honors provided by the U.S. Army. Pallbearers will be Jason Hampton, Josh Neese, Malachi Rooks, Richard Nagorniak, Charlie Higdon, Wayne Etheridge and Trumaine Reid.
