Carson City Fire to host final training exercises at Northern Nevada Children’s Home Cottages next week as demolition continues

Carson City, NV – The State Public Works Division, in partnership with the Carson City Fire Department, announces the planned demolition of the Northern Nevada Children’s Home cottages.

This effort started on May 28 and is expected to be completed by October 24. The live-fire training exercises are scheduled from September 7 through September 12.

The fire training will allow first responders to practice real-life emergency scenarios in a safe, controlled environment.

The air quality during this period will be monitored through the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP), and all necessary precautions have been taken to minimize environmental and public health impacts.

The State conducted a remembrance ceremony on August 27, 2025, as a tribute to the countless lives that were impacted by the Northern Nevada Children’s Home Cottages.
