More than 5,300 go without power in Lyon County; Six Mile Canyon reopens after mudslides

NV Energy reports multiple power outages Monday affecting more than 5,300 customers in Lyon County and 550 customers in Storey County.
The utility reports there were 5,379 customers without power from nine outages in Lyon County as of 5:30 p.m, however, by 5:45 p.m. the utility reduced the number to 2,360 customers. Many in the Dayton, Silver Springs and Stagecoach areas have reported loss of power. Some of the outages began at around 3:30 p.m.
Lyon County notes the following on its Facebook page:
We are aware of ongoing power outages affecting areas across Lyon County. NV Energy crews are working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible.

Heavy rain from thunderstorms caused a number of problems for motorists Monday afternoon and early evening, including mudslides that closed 6 Mile Canyon Road. Storey County reports the road is now open.
NV Energy has not estimated a time for restoration.
