Clinton-Marilyn J. (Hanney) Dumas, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025 at the Clinton Hospital, following a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, David S. Dumas, who died in 2018. She is survived by her son, Kevin M. Dumas; her daughter and caregiver with whom she lived, Christine Dumas & fiancé Charles Whittington; and grandson, Kyle M. Dumas. She leaves two brothers, John Hanney & wife Karen, and David Hanney & wife Ann; generations of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. She is pre-deceased by her siblings, Eleanor Joseph, Eileen Goldick, Sharon Fulkerson, Carol Nelson, and Peter Hanney.
Daughter of the late Maurice & Ruth (Grady) Hanney, Marilyn was born, raised, and educated in Clinton. In addition to raising her children as a full-time homemaker, Marilyn later worked as a machine operator for Sterling Manufacturing until retiring. Although diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease 38 years ago, Marilyn loved and lived life to the fullest and was a woman of many hobbies and interests, including music and dancing, going out to dinner, playing Bingo, tending to her garden, and working out at the gym. She loved animals, especially her many cats and dogs, and cared deeply for helping others. Her door was always open and she was the first to help another in need. Above all, Marilyn was a proud matriarch, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 10 until 11AM with a Funeral Service immediately following at 11AM in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with burial in St. John’s Cemetery.
