David Patrick Paone Jr.

David Patrick Paone Jr., 71, of Ontario, passed away at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital on Sunday, November 21, 2021.

Paone was the first baby born in 1950, he was born on January 1, 1950 in Upstate, New York. He was the son of David Sr. and June (Mitchell) Paone. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was the owner of Paone’s in Ontario since 1986. The most caring, compassionate, and generous man, Paone did not come across a stranger, everyone was his friend. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Paone helped generously many people throughout his life. A very proud father, Paone thought of his children’s spouses as his children and loved them dearly.

A car “nut”, Paone was a skilled drag racer who was a two time track champion in Bristol, Tennessee. He loved superman and at the race track he was affectionately called Super Dave. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #39 in Mansfield. An avid Browns fan, he cheered them on even in their bad times. He was diehard!

Paone was one of a kind and there are not many people like him left in this world. As he passed on to his children many wonderful traits, Paone is leaving behind an unbelievable legacy.

He is leaving behind his wify whom he married on June 11, 1970 that she always said to him, “Love you more”, Kathy Tisdale Paone; his children, Angel (Benny) Paone- Leighty, David (Shellie) Paone III, Lawrence (Karen) Paone, and Krista (Dennis) Paone Smith; his grandchildren, Jace Paone, Alexis and Christian Meister, Baby Larry Paone, Madison, Taylor, Hunter, and Cody Paone, and Sierra, Brandon, and Kennedy Smith; numerous great-grandchildren; his siblings, Diana (Phil) D’Angelo, Joanne (Donnie) Stevens, Patty (Nelson) Bross, and Johnny (Jolie) Paone; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Johnny Mathis. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends may visit from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, November 26, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 9:30 am in the funeral home. The family requests that you dress casually and if you have Superman attire, please wear it in honor of Super Dave. Paone will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery. Please make memorial contributions to the family.
