In Loving Memory of Carmen Mircelina Cruz Zavala

Carmen Mircelina  (Cruz) Zavala , age 81, passed away at her home in Kissimmee, Florida on July 12, 2025, after a full and beautiful life.

Born on December 19, 1943 in Salinas, Puerto Rico, Carmen was the beloved daughter of Rosa Mercado and Jose Cruz. It was in her hometown where she met her husband, Victor Zavala, with whom she shared many years of marriage until his passing in 2016.

Together, Carmen and Victor built a life rooted in love and faith, raising their family in Brooklyn, New York, before settling in Staten Island, where they spent many cherished years. In their retirement, they relocated to Kissimmee, Florida to enjoy a slower pace of life.

Carmen dedicated 30 years of her life caring for patients with kindness and dignity at Cobble Hill Nursing Home in Brooklyn.

She was a woman of deep faith and an active member of her church, giving generously of her time and heart.

She had a love for travel, a talent for cooking, and a warm spirit that brought joy to every life she touched.

Carmen is survived by her four children: Michael, Steven, Jason, and Jamie; her seven grandchildren; and her great-grandson – who will keep her spirit alive in their hearts, stories, and everyday lives.
