W.A. Owen Jr.

W.A. Owen Jr. 95 of Griffith Springs passed away Thursday at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born May 22, 1930 in Lincoln County to the late W.A. Owen Sr. and Dora Reynolds Owen.

He was retired from International Paper in Pine Bluff and was a retired farmer. W.A. was an Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Griffith Springs Church of Christ, member of the Quarter Century Club at International Paper Company, the American Legion and VFW and was the founding member of the Owen Hunting Club. He enjoyed gardening, going to their cabin in Mt. View and listening to blue grass music on the square. After retirement he enjoyed traveling around the country with his wife, sister and brother in-law. W.A was a kind and gentle man who loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Anne King Owen, a brother, Gene Owen, and three sisters, Marzee Owen Weatherford, Mauriece Owen Finley, and Betty Aureli.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Diane Owen (Ray) of Clarksville, TN. son, Bill Owen (Susan) of Griffith Springs, daughter, Stacey McKinney (Brian) of Altheimer. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Brickley Owen (Jordan), Jeremy Dial (Karla), Jay Owen, Jacob McGhee (Brooke), Ben McGhee (Whitney) and nine great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City. Graveside services will be private. Pallbearers will be Brickley Owen, Jeremy Dial, Jay Owen, Jacob McGhee, Ben McGhee, Kasen Dial, Weston Dial and Jackson Owen and an Honorary Pallbearer Joe Brown. In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to New Owen Cemetery c/o Lisa Owen 531 Arrowhead Road, Pine Bluff Ar. 71603.
