Sharon Mae Ruth Morton, affectionately known as Sharon, completed her earthly journey and entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior on July 15, 2025, in Springfield, MO. Born on December 31, 1937, in the scenic state of Washington, Sharon’s life was a testament to the grace and love she carried in her heart for 87 years.

A woman of deep Christian faith, Sharon walked a path illuminated by the teachings of Christ. She was a beacon of hope and joy to all who were blessed to cross her path. Her optimism was infectious, her smile a source of comfort, and her friendship a gift of immeasurable value. Those who knew Sharon witnessed a life lived with unwavering faith and an ever-present readiness to share the love of God.

Sharon was a high school graduate who translated life experience to serve with distinction as a secretary, an insurance agent, and later as a supervisor at the Southwest Airlines Reservation Center in San Antonio, TX. Her professional life was filled with accolades, but it was her personal interactions that truly defined her legacy – a legacy of kindness, support, and genuine care for her colleagues, clients, and friends.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Sharon nurtured a vibrant array of interests that enriched her life and the lives of others. Her love for Bible study was the cornerstone of her existence, providing her with solace and strength. She expressed her creativity through sewing, ceramics, and cooking and baking. Later in her life, Sharon developed a passion for bird watching, using her windows on the world to observe God’s splendid creation. She was avidly involved in youth group leadership as her children grew, displaying her commitment to guiding young hearts towards a path of faith and righteousness.

Sharon’s family was the heart of her world. She is survived by her loving daughters, Sherry Maracle (Gordon) and Kimberly Szarka; her devoted son, Stephen Morton (Karen); her cherished daughter-in-law, Rose Morton; her caring sister-in-law, Marie Nelson; thirteen adoring grandchildren; and a multitude of great-grandchildren who will carry forward her legacy of love and faith. Sharon was predeceased by her beloved husbands, David Morton and Daniel Buttram; her dear son, Neil Morton; Her father Lyle Nelson and mother Alta, and her four siblings.

Sharon’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of faith-filled optimism and friendly grace. Each person she met was touched by her gentle spirit and left with a sense of having encountered a true servant of God. As we bid farewell to Sharon Mae Ruth Morton, we celebrate a life beautifully lived, a journey of faith faithfully completed, and a spirit now soaring with the angels. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.

A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at the Maranatha Village Chapel at 233 E Norton Rd, Springfield, MO 65803 on August 16th, 2025 from 10-11 am. A visitation will be held at the chapel at 9:30 am. Sharon will be interred at a later date next to David Morton in San Antonio, TX.
