It is with heavy hearts and beautiful memories we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy Myrtle Hewitt, aged 88, on July 23, 2025.
Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother, loving grandmother, cherished sister, and loyal friend. Her warmth, resilience, and kindness touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. She brought grace and care to all she did, and her presence was a steady comfort to those around her.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons Brian (Lori), and Barry (Brenda), and her beloved grandsons Dylan, Daniel, Spencer, and Ethan. Dorothy also leaves behind her dear sister Evelyn (Myles) Tremblet and sister-in-law Shirley Fudge, who shared in many beautiful memories over the years. Gratitude is also extended to family Marjorie Fudge, Rex and Geraldine Porter, and Roy and Joan Barbour for their ongoing compassion and visits, particularly over the last several years.
Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Gerald, her brother Clarence Fudge, her sister Daphne Loder, and her brother-in-law Wayne Loder. Together they form a cherished part of Dorothy’s story and legacy.
Dorothy’s life reflected enduring love, quiet strength, and steadfast devotion to family. Her memory will be cherished always, and her spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of those she loved.
A special thank you to the wonderful and compassionate staff at the Agnes Pratt Home for their kindness and loving care, especially during her last days.
Visitation will take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John’s from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Funeral Service will be held from Barrett’s Chapel on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Kenmount Road Anglican Cemetery.
