Donald Lee Harvey

Donald Lee Harvey, 90 of Springfield, passed away at 7:50 pm, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at his home. He was born on April 18, 1931 in Athens, IL, the son of Edward Leslie and Violet Grace (Mavis) Harvey.

Donald is survived by one son, Pat Harvey of Pensacola, FL; three grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, and Kristina Harvey; five great grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Laverne Harvey of Springfield.

Preceding him in death are his parents; one son, Steven L. Harvey, and one brother, Eugene Harvey.

Donald served 26 years in the United States Marine Coprs as an aviator and was a Vietnam War combat veteran. He was awarded the title “Top Gun” in 1969 for his excellent flying skills. He worked for Beech Aircraft after retiring from the USMC.

Donald was a member of the former New Salem United Methodist Church. He is also a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Marine Officers Association of America (MOAA).

Graveside Service: 2 pm, Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corps Scholarship Program or the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
