Cindy Kimbley

Lucinda Kimbley (aka Cindy or Lucy). She was 80 years old and a Whatcom County resident for most of her adult life.

Born January 26,1945 to her Parents Ruby Jean and James Creston Bounds in Salt Lake City Utah. Her dad was in the Navy for over 20 years, and she and her siblings went wherever he was stationed Living in many places such as the Philippines, Hawaii, Washington D.C., and California to name a few. Her father was sunk on the U.S.S. Oklahoma at Pearl Harbor, and she wouldn’t have been here if he wasn’t rescued. Lucinda has two Brothers James Lee Bounds (Katie & Kenneth) and George Creston Bounds (Creston Bounds).

She was wife to James Denzel Kimbley for 55 years. They loved each other greatly and held hands everywhere they went. She and James met in California where their parents lived and upon a visit to other family members fell in love with Whatcom County in 1978. They lived in Bellingham for several years then moved out to Ferndale in 1988. They had a little Orchard named “Apple Creek Orchard” in Ferndale and when they sold it Lucinda and her husband James lived in Northport and then Ellensburg for a few years then returned to being around their children. They moved back to Ferndale, Washington in August of 2019. They had two children April Kimbley (son Mark w/ Great Grandson Lincoln Hollenbeck) & (Brandon Hollenbeck) and Levi Kimbley wife Cherise. (Daughter Grace Kimbley (Son Jeremy Bunker & wife Alexandra/ Children Bodhi & Gemma). She loved the water and the Beaches. Her brother Lee said she was a great swimmer and if they hadn’t moved so much, she would have been on a swim team & she instilled the love of swimming in her children also. She and her husband loved camping and sightseeing trips across the country. She was also in the Navy as an AK3 (Aviation Storekeeper). She always loved to listen to music and dance.

Lucinda was able to stay at home for the duration of her illness with the support and love of her husband at her side. Only in the last few months was additional help needed. Along with wonderful in-home caregivers and lastly the amazing team of hospice in her last few weeks where she was given exceptional and quality care at home. She suffered for many years with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.

Lucinda was good with numbers and people. She worked in banks and at the City of Blaine for a few years and the YWCA before she retired in her 60’s. In her last few years, she really loved the last home they moved to and would enjoy sitting and look out at the fields and watching birds and nature commenting on how beautiful it was. She was always there for her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. As her favorite saying when ending a call… (well this isn’t the end but another beginning) ….” Bye for now”.
