Our beloved mother, wife, and grandmother, Maria Edith Martinez Cambambia, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Chicago, IL, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 6, 1961, in Veracruz, Mexico, Edith (her preferred name or “Edi” for short) dedicated her life to caring for her family and was a pillar of strength to all who knew her. She brought immeasurable joy, love, and light into our lives with her selflessness, positive outlook, courage, strength, kind heart, patience, radiant smile, laughter, leadership, and faith.
Edith’s greatest joy came from spending time with her six children, whom she considered her greatest gifts in life, grandchildren, husband, and loving pet dog Spikey. She also enjoyed the beauty of nature, taking long walks in nature and admiring the many flowers and plants she encountered along the way. Edith was also known for always being willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and others who were in need.
A friend to many, she was a cherished community member in Utica, Michigan, her home for many years, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. She was predeceased by her father Agustin, and is survived by her husband Cirilo, children Salette, Arantxa, Silja, Agustin, Santiago, and Atenea, sons-in-law Luis and Fadi, daughter-in-law Jessica, three grandchildren, as well as her mother Guadalupe, six siblings, and countless friends, all of whom who felt her warmth and generosity and will miss her dearly.

Nuestra querida madre, esposa y abuela, María Edith Martínez Cambambia, falleció en paz el 23 de mayo de 2025 en Chicago, Illinois, rodeada de su amorosa familia. Nacida el 6 de agosto de 1961 en Veracruz, México, Edith (su nombre preferido o “Edi” para abreviar) dedicó su vida al cuidado de su familia y fue un pilar de fortaleza para todos quienes la conocieron. Ella trajo alegría infinita, amor y luz a nuestras vidas con su altruismo, perspectiva positiva, coraje, fortaleza, corazón bondadoso, paciencia, sonrisa radiante, risa, liderazgo y fe.
La mayor alegría de Edith provenía de pasar tiempo con sus seis hijos, a los que consideraba su mayor regalo en la vida, sus nietos, su esposo y su cariñoso perro Spikey. También disfrutaba de la belleza de la naturaleza, dando largos paseos por ella y admirando las muchas flores y plantas que encontraba por el camino. Edith también era conocida por estar siempre dispuesta a ayudar a familiares, amigos y otras personas necesitadas.
Amiga de muchos, fue un apreciado miembro de la comunidad de Utica, Michigan, su hogar durante muchos años, dejando tras de sí un legado de bondad y fortaleza. Le precedió en la muerte su padre, Agustín, y le sobreviven su esposo Cirilo, sus hijos Salette, Arantxa, Silja, Agustín, Santiago y Atenea, sus yernos Luis y Fadi, su nuera Jessica, sus tres nietos, así como su madre Guadalupe, sus seis hermanos e innumerables amigos, todos los cuales sintieron su calidez y generosidad y la extrañarán profundamente.
