Jonathan David Lanza (Jon), age 52, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025.
Jon was a truly lovable and huggable bear of a man, with an impish grin and a warm heart. He never knew a stranger and made friends with anyone and everyone he ever met. He loved his life partner, Kim, and his family dearly, almost as much as a good yard sale on a Saturday morning.
Jon was born and lived his entire life in Pittsburgh, never straying too far from the very home he grew up in as the youngest of the neighborhood “Lanza Boys.” Tragically, his middle older brother, Damian Anthony (Tony) Lanza, predeceased Jon by just two days on May 24, 2025.
A graduate of North Allegheny HS, Jon explored various career paths before settling in as a custodian for Goodwill Industries, working under contract with the Weis Federal Courthouse in Pittsburgh. While he found his job rewarding, Jon’s true passion and talent lay in creating artwork for family and friends.
Surviving him are his father Robert Joseph Lanza Sr. (Bobbie), his long-term life partner, Kimberly Sheetz, his oldest brother Robert Joseph Lanza Jr. (Kathy) and their sons, Jake (Ashley) and Scott, his sister-in-law Elizabeth and her sons Anthony, Landon (Amber), Caysen and Rylan, as well as his grandniece Lillian and grandnephew Sylas. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him beyond measure.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Jon’s memory with a Funeral Mass on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St John Neumann Church – Regina Coeli Parish, 2230 Rochester Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jon’s memory to Goodwill Industries of Southwestern Pennsylvania at the link below.
