John Eric Summers Sr.
John Eric Summers Sr., 67, of Galion, Ohio passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021. He was born in Ironton, Ohio on August 28, 1954 to the late Furman and Pauline (Messer) Summers.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War. He retired in 2010 after serving 27 years as a Correctional Lieutenant. He was a huge history and bluegrass music buff and enjoyed picking on his banjo. John loved to watch western movies and his favorite movie was Tombstone. He liked vehicles, riding motorcycles, fishing and spending time with family and friends. John was a lifetime member of the NRA and a devout member of the Republican Party.
John is survived by his sons, John Jr. (Lisa) Summers, Josh (Antionette) Summers and Jack (Nicole) Summers; grandchildren, Eliana, London, Jaxon and Joey with one on the way; sister, Marilyn (Bob) Cruz; numerous nieces and nephew; and his cat. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Karen Soo.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield, Ohio 44902. A service will follow thereafter beginning at 4:00 p.m. with military honors presented by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad.
