Elmer Clauhs

Elmer H. “Hughie” Clauhs, of Cape May Court House, NJ passed on June 19, 2025 at Complete Care Nursing Home. He was 85 years old. Elmer was born on August 10, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA, son of the late Elmer E. Clauhs and Mabel Clauhs.

Elmer was a proud Navy Veteran. After his military service he worked as a Master Plumber. He retired from the Borgata Casino.

He enjoyed life. Things he enjoyed were spending time on the beach, in the casino, boating, fishing and in his later years playing pool at the Senior Center.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Walter (1988). Elmer will be missed by his loving companion, Marian Gillespie; his two children, Deborah Kostingo and Jeffery Clauhs; grandchildren, David and Danielle DePaul; great granddaughter, Alaina DePaul; sister-in-law, Ellen Clauhs; nephews, Andrew (Maria) and Brian (Amy) Clauhs, Ann Fox and Brian Dougherty and Ed Gillespie and other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Spilker Funeral Home, 815 Washington Street, Cape May where his funeral ceremony will begin at 11 am. Interment with military honors will follow in the Veterans Field of Honor at Cold Spring Cemetery, Lower Twp.
