Michael Wayne Douglass, age 67, known as Mike Douglass, was born on May 15, 1957, in Marion, Indiana to Dave Alan and Lelia (Hobbs) Douglass. He passed from this life on April 17, 2025, at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mike grew up and attended school in Indiana. He enlisted in the United State Navy and was honorably discharged. During his adult working life, he was a cook for various restaurants including, Denny’s and Bob Evans, both in Indiana, the Quilt Patch in Osceola, Iowa, and the Country Corners in Decatur, Iowa. His main career was driving truck. He worked for several different companies over the years.
He was married to Michelle Elaine Wilson and blessed with son, Micah. Later he was married to Racheal Lea Whitham. They were blessed with two sons, Michael Lewis and Bradley.
Mike was a hunter, fisherman, and a cook, but he loved the time he spent with his family, especially the grandchildren. He also enjoyed working on cars.
Preceding him in death were his dad, Dave Douglass in 2011; son, Michael Douglass in 2013; brother, Patrick Douglass; and sister, Brenda “Susie” Hendricks and her husband, Phil. Survivors include his mother, Lelia Douglass of Garden Grove, Iowa; sons, Bradley Douglass and wife, Deanna, of Leon, Iowa and Micah Lutz and wife, Wanda, of Ashland City, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Drace, Brentley, Kinzley, and Karter Douglass and Michaela, Waylon, and Amelia Lutz; siblings, Lonnie “Joe” & Julie Douglass of Independence, Kansas, Belinda & Chuck Adkins of Humeston, Iowa, and Robin & Don Reed of Abilene, Texas; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
No services are planned at this time. Memorials can be directed to the family. Arrangements were through the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa.
