Catherine Accardi

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Catherine Ann Accardi (née von Obenauer), who left us peacefully on May 3, 2025, at the age of 83.

Born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, on June 22, 1941, Cathie moved as a child to Union, New Jersey, where she spent most of her life surrounded by family and friends. A devoted wife to the late Salvatore Vincent Accardi, Cathie was a loving and dedicated mother and homemaker, known for her warmth, her strength, and her tireless care for those around her.

She is survived by her children: William Accardi and his wife Fiona, Michael Accardi, and Connie Accardi and her husband Edward “Skip” Reich. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Melissa (and her husband William), Jessica, Andrew, Eric and Kenneth. Cathie is also survived by her beloved sisters Heidi Hellmich (and her husband Charley), Karen Levine, and Christine von Obenauer, as well as eight nieces and nephews.

Cathie found joy in many simple pleasures—cooking hearty meals for loved ones, sewing even the most complex projects with expert skill, reading her Danielle Steele and Tony Hillerman novels, participating in Grace Church Discernment Group meetings, and sharing laughter with friends and neighbors. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her ever-present smile, kind disposition, gentle sense of humor, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and the many lives she touched.
