Helene McGrady

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helene Donnelly McGrady on June 15, 2025, at the age of 93. Predeceased by sister, Jane Merkle, and brother-in-law, Charles Murphy.

Helene was the devoted wife of Bernard “Bud” McGrady for 59 wonderful years and a loving mother to Karen McGrady, Michael McGrady, and Mary (Christopher O’Connor) McGrady; sisters, Ann (Joseph) Daley, Karen (Thomas) Hanss, and Susan Murphy; brother-in law, Richard Merkle; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Helene was a pioneer in computer science at a time when few women entered the field. As a mother, teacher, and tutor, she inspired with her belief that “you can do anything you put your mind to”. She was always generous with her time and knowledge, encouraging others to pursue their goals with confidence.

Helene embraced life with energy and joy. She loved skiing, reading, traveling, spending time with friends, and giving back through her volunteer work at Saint’s Place. Helene’s legacy lives on through the countless lives she enriched with her wisdom, humor, and grace.

A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at St. Louis Church, 64 S Main St, Pittsford, NY 14534. Private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Helene’s name to Saint’s Place, 46 South Main St, Pittsford, NY 14534.
