Mary Ann Caniglia (nee Schulte) passed peacefully in her sleep on May 30, 2025.

Mary Ann was born on July 2, 1929, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Anastasia and Edward Schulte. She grew up in Denison, Iowa, with her younger sister Audrey and graduated from high school in 1947. Soon after, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to attend nursing school. As a young nurse, she met Al Caniglia and they married on August 16, 1951. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2017.

Known to many by her initials, MAC, she worked side-by-side with Al in several Omaha restaurants over the decades, including Top of the World, the Drawing Room, Palazzo ‘Taliano, and Caniglia’s at the Oak Creek Inn. She retired in 1997 and moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona.

Mary Ann loved her family, her adopted home of Fountain Hills, bingo at the Fort, Arizona Diamondbacks baseball, playing progressive rummy with loved ones, and traveling with Al to Italy, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Mexico, and beyond.

Mary Ann is survived her children: Laura (Bob) Callahan, Joan (Paul) Sanders, John Caniglia, and Lynda (Steve) Kuss; her sister-in-law Gloria Caniglia; and her grandchildren Rob (Erin) Callahan, Shelley Caniglia, Kelly (Anthony) Karhoff, Al (Sara) Caniglia, Matt (Natalja) Callahan, David (Karly) Sanders, Mike (Stacey) Sanders, Katie (Paul) Benton, Michaela (Mitch) Kavanagh, Kristina (Travis) Larson, Grant (Paige) Gelecki, and Connor Gelecki. She also leaves behind 25 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by husband Al; her parents Anastasia and Edward; her sister, Audrey, and brother-in-law, Tony Piccolo; her brothers- and sisters-in-law Grace and Tony Piccolo, Ross and Helen Caniglia, Eli Caniglia, JoAnn Caniglia, Lou and Pearl Caniglia, Yano and Mary Caniglia, daughter-in-law Peggy Caniglia, and nephews Charles Caniglia and Tom Caniglia.

Funeral services will be held on July 22 at St. John Vianney Catholic church in Omaha, Nebraska at 11:00 a.m. (visitation at 10:00 a.m.), followed by a luncheon. Inurnment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
