Mira Darlene Shields Graham, affectionately known as Darlene, gracefully embraced life’s final chapter on May 30, 2025, in the heart of her beloved place of birth, Henderson County, North Carolina. Born on July 28, 1971, Darlene lived a full and vibrant life of 53 years that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas Grantham in Little Rock, Darlene pursued her passion for medicine by earning a bachelor’s degree in medical coding. She dedicated herself to her work in healthcare with unwavering commitment and diligence, making a positive impact through her meticulous coding skills and compassionate heart.
Darlene was not only a respected professional but also a woman of many passions. She was an avid reader, always found with a “good book” in hand, finding adventure and solace in the pages. Her love for animals was profound, and she possessed an unparalleled passion for the water, where she often found peace and inspiration. More than anything, she cherished her family deeply, infusing her home with warmth and love.
Preceded in death by her mother, Arlene Walker Shields, Darlene is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Jeffrey Scott Graham; her beloved daughter, Felicia Thomason, and son, Jeffrey Graham. She was the proud grandmother of two wonderful grandsons, Jeffrey Thomas Graham and Andrew Jacob Graham. Her legacy continues through her father, Jerry Tommy Shields; three sisters, Becky, Susie, and Teresa; three brothers, Thomas, Willie, and Jonathan; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
Darlene’s journey will be celebrated with a burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville, with details to be announced at a future date. Her family and friends will gather to remember a life lived with grace, strength, and boundless love.
In remembering Darlene, we honor a remarkable woman whose spirit of resilience, kindness, and joy will continue to inspire us all. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her legacy will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
