William Boyd Worsham

CPO William Boyd Worsham, US Navy, passed into eternal life on April 17, 2022, at Brookdale Senior Living Apartments in Hendersonville, NC.

He was born on September 14, 1928, to the late William Joseph and Jesse Pressley Worsham, in Fletcher, NC.   Boyd is also preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie S. Hall, daughter, Patricia M. Breuer, and grandson, Jeffery A. Worsham.

Boyd lived a life of service to this country, having 30 years of military service. He was a proud Navy Chief who served in the mine warfare division, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.  After retiring, he went on to serve in the Civil Air Patrol for 20 years and as the Police Chief in Iva, a small town in SC. After retiring from the police force, he worked for many years as head of security for Hydro Aluminum in Belton, SC, retiring at the tender young age of 89. His 93 years of life were full and interesting.  He loved spending his summers at the campground, gardening, watching the birds he always fed, and visits from family and friends.

Prior to his illness, he attended Fletcher First Baptist and Mills Gap Baptist Churches.

Boyd leaves behind his children, William Joseph Worsham, II (Pat), Norma Hall, Wanda Wood (Don), and Kathy Eadie (Bruce), 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and several extended family members and friends.

A special thank you to Peggy Carter his lifelong friend who became the love of his life in later years, and to his niece, Gerri Watkins and his nephew, James Wilkie who helped care for Boyd during his illness.

Visitation will be Friday, April 22,2022, from 6 – 8 PM at Shuler Funeral Home in Hendersonville, NC. A funeral service and interment will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at 2:00 PM, at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church in Fletcher, NC.  Condolences may be shared at shulerfuneralhome.com.
