Stephen “Steve” Kazimour, 58, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on June 23, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with mental health.
Born on March 9, 1967, in Cedar Rapids, Steve graduated from LaSalle High School in 1985. He married the love of his life, Susan “Sue” Dostal.
Steve was a passionate and skilled meat cutter who took pride in his craft. Outside of work, he found joy in the outdoors—snowmobiling, fishing, and spending time at the family cabin on the Coralville Reservoir were some of his favorite ways to unwind and connect with nature.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sue; sons, Kyle and Kevin; his family dog, Frankie; siblings, Dave Kazimour (Janelle), Ann Pfifner (John), and Mary Troendle; mother-in-law, Betty Dostal; brothers-in-law, Jeff Dostal (Mary) and Phil Stetchcon; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jean Kazimour; brothers, James Michael Kazimour and James Kazimour II; father-in-law, Duane Dostal; and nephew, Joseph Pfifner.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Papich Kuba Funeral Service, 1228 2nd Street SE Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52401. Graveside Committal will take place Monday, June 30, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Czech National Cemetery. A reception will follow at CJ’s Sports Bar and Grill. Casual attire is encouraged, in honor of Steve’s laid-back spirit.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Foundation 2 or Grow, a nonprofit farm and orchard—both causes close to the family’s heart.
