Serena Deuda Runyon, 76, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 6, 2023 after a brief illness.

Service:  2:30 p.m., Saturday, May 13, 2023 in Biggers Funeral Chapel.

Interment:  Hodgkins Cemetery, Lake Worth, Texas

Visitation:  6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at Biggers Funeral Home.

She was born in Sorsogon, Philippines on August 23, 1946, to Protacio and Maria Angustia Deuda.

Serena attended Bicol College in the Philippines to study Elementary Education, and Tarrant County Junior College, in Fort Worth, Texas, from which she received her associate degree.

Raised in the Philippines, Serena made her way to the United States in 1970, settling in Fort Worth, Texas, where she raised her family with Rick, her husband of 35 years. She enjoyed her work as a cashier, working for many years in the 1970s at Hills Hardware and most recently at Kroger Grocery Store, where she was still working as a full-time employee up until December 2022. She also worked for Tandy Computers on the assembly line in the 1980s.

Serena loved to garden, growing her own basil and lavender year-round, read, cook, travel to the Philippines to visit extended family, and spend time with friends and her immediate family, including dining out and attending her grandsons’ sporting events, like football and basketball games.

She is survived by her children, Michelle Norgaard and Richard Runyon III; son-in-law, Jacob Norgaard; grandchildren, Zackary Finch and Luke Finch; siblings, Tomas Deuda, Quentin Deuda and Shirley Manders and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Runyon Jr.; siblings, Regoberto Deuda, Elsa Deuda, Wilfredo Deuda and Filomena Deuda.
