Scott Supple, 64, of Hopkinton, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at

11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at St. Luke Catholic Church, Hopkinton, with interment in the Hopkinton Cemetery with Hopkinton Fire Department honors. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. at the church on Friday and again from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday. A parish vigil service will begin at 3 p.m. Friday. Surviving is his wife, Kristine; five children, Aaron (Nichole), Marcus, Adrianne, Erika and Emilee; his granddaughter, Olivia Raylynn; four step-grandchildren, Adrienne, Cadence, Kalynn and Maleah Freiburger, all of Hopkinton; his mother, Doris Noel; siblings, Christine Richter, Carrie Supple, Mark Supple and Tricia (Jim) Manson; his in-laws, Cheryl (Rick) Clark, Michelle (Jesse) Coohey, Angie (Kevin) Wilson and Amy (Jeff) Sherwood; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marcus; and step-father, Lee Noel; his brother, Casey; and his grandparents, Harry (Amy) Gibson and Raymond (Margaret) Supple.

Scott Raymond Supple was born Aug. 13, 1958, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa. He was the son of Marcus and Doris Gibson Supple. Scott graduated from the Maquoketa Valley Schools, with the class of 1976. He continued his education at Kirkwood Community College where he studied agriculture. Scott married Kristine Turnis on May 6, 1989, in Hopkinton, Iowa. Five children were born to this union. Over the years, Scott worked with his father at Johnson Feed Mill, which later transitioned to D&J Feeds. He was also employed at IAS and Orbis Manufacturing. For 42 years, he worked at the Post Office as a part-time rural carrier and currently as a full-time rural carrier. From 2004 until 2009, he and Kristine operated the 4-Corners Restaurant. He was also a realtor for McDonough Real Estate.

Scott loved being on the farm and tinkering in the shop, taking the dogs on Ranger rides, putzing around Hopkinton and stopping to talk with people. He enjoyed going junking with his sons and helping with their demo derby events. He never missed any of his children’s school or sporting events. Scott served on the Hopkinton Fire Department for 29 years and was also involved in the Hopkinton Lions Club until his passing.
