Ruth M. Gordon

Ruth M. Gordon, age 86 of Marengo, IL formerly of Palatine, IL passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital in McHenry, IL. She was born on November 21, 1936, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Harald and Emma (Sauer) Spaak.

Ruth was united in marriage on July 30, 1956, to Clifford A. Gordon and they spent the next 58 years happily together until his passing on April 8, 2015. She loved doing puzzles and was an avid cat lover. Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Ruth is survived by her children, Sandra Stone, Darlene (John) Nall, Ronald (Paula) Gordon, Steven Gordon, and Donald Gordon; her eleven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harald and Emma Spaak; her husband, Clifford Gordon; her sister, Merrian Panke; her brother, Harald Spaak; and her son-in-law, Kenneth Stone.

Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until the Hour of Service 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL.  Interment will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 19, 2023 in the Elmwood Cemetery, Yorkville, IL.

Memorials in Ruth’s name may be made to the American Heart Association and any local Animal Shelter.
