Rose Ellen

Our community morns the loss of an incredible woman. Rose Ellen Cocanour( age 82) of Baltimore Ohio, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Feb 28, 2021 , after her long battle with Alzheimer’s. Rose was born at home on September 17, 1938 to the late Robert and Irene ( Crist) Young.

Her contributions to the lives of many include her 31 year service to the Liberty Union School district where Rose was the secretary/librarian and “mom” to many. She founded the academic boosters, founded and worked the lemon shake up booth (where every shake was made with love), and she worked the LU food booth for 15 years to support the music program/ Junior Class. Rose could be found at almost any and all school functions to support her “kids”.

Rose was a lifelong dedicated member and past president of the Basil Garden Club, where her love of gardening and floral arranging blossomed. She spent many years setting up and displaying arrangements at the Fairfield County Fair flower booth, along with the Federation of Garden Clubs and numerous flower shows.

Rose was a lifelong member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where she served on the church board and was a member of the church choir.

She was a bank teller of the Hocking Valley National bank, President of OAPSE, local # 494, and an avid adventurer and traveler. Each year Rose loved to take her family and grandchildren on a cultural vacation to see the world.
