Ronda Frances Beels

Ronda Frances Beels, age 79 of Big Rock, IL passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 31, 1944 in Aurora, IL the daughter of Rodney and Roberta (James) Wiggin. Her father was killed on an Airforce training mission in 1943.

Ronda was united in marriage on April 5, 1963 to the love of her life, Gregory J. Beels and they spent the next 60 happy years together. Mrs. Beels was a member of the Big Rock English Congregational United Church of Christ and sang for many years in its choir. Ronda had a full life. She loved being with her family, meeting new friends and helping those in need. Mrs. Beels enjoyed riding her motorcycle, boating, RVing…and her darn cats. When the girls were small, Ronda worked alongside her mother at the Big Rock Grade School kitchen where they made the “famous” Bunstead recipe. She also worked as a secretary for several Big Rock businesses. After her retirement, she became a Teacher’s Aide for the Kaneland school district. Ronda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Ronda will be remembered for the heart she shared with her family and friends. She was a nurturer and always put others before herself. She touched many people with her kindness. If you knew Ronda, you already know that.

Ronda is survived by her husband, Gregory J. Beels of Big Rock, IL; her daughters, Lynn Sommers of CO and Lorri (Mike) Dugan of Sugar Grove, IL; her grandchildren, Michelle and Mallory Dugan of Aurora, IL and Benjamin (Stacy) Sommers of CO; as well as, her great-granddaughter, Rain Sommers of CO.

She was preceded in death by her paternal father, Rodney Wiggin; her mother and step-father, Roberta and Bryon Scott; her siblings, Bonnie Woodrick and Bryon Scott Jr; also her grandson,

Ronda was denied a longer life with her true love, Greg, due to the cruel disease of Dementia for the last 7 years. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America- AFA in memory of Ronda.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 North Maple Street, Hinckley, IL. Interment will follow in the West Big Rock Cemetery in Big Rock, IL.

Friends may visit from 12:30 until the Hour of Service on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Funeral Home in Hinckley, IL.
