Robert “Steve” Mullan passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025. He was just a few weeks from celebrating his 82nd birthday.
Born June 25, 1943, to Mary Jane (Kohl) and Robert Mullan in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was the eldest of five boys. Steve is survived by two of his brothers, Jon and Mark, and preceded in death by Patrick and Mike. Steve learned early on the value of hard work and that, if you wanted something in life, you needed to work for it.
Steve served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict in the 327th Supply Squadron before being honorably discharged Jan 31, 1966. He was very proud if his service and will be recognized will full military honors at his burial.
Steve became a father in 1970. He is survived by his son, Steven Mullan and his wife, Susan, and his two amazing grandchildren, Mariah and Tanner (Hannah) Mullan, whom Steve talked about often.
Steve spent most of his working career at the City of Cedar Rapids before retiring after 30+ years. Steve was extremely active and was often out with or helping his many friends. You would be greeted with a high five, a fist bump, or a warm hug to be sure. Steve loved rock and roll and always had the right answer on karaoke nights whenever a question about a band, song, and year it came out, came up. “Ultra Man”, as he was called by many of his friends, enjoyed life every single day.
A visitation for Steve will be held at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, 4200 First Ave., Cedar Rapids, on September 20, 2025, at the main building from 10:00 am-noon. Immediately following will be a burial with Military honors at the grave site.
