Robert Lee “Bob” Prather

Robert Lee (Bob) Prather, 77 of Fountain Hills, AZ died peacefully surrounded by his family at 8:29 am, Monday, April 4, 2022 in Springfield, Il. He was born October 23, 1944 in Charleston, IL to Ivan and Beulah (Queen) Prather. He married Jane Ann Hickenbottom on September 25, 2004.

Bob graduated from Charleston High School in 1962 and soon after enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed in San Diego, CA. He made Arizona his lifelong home with his wife Jane Ann. He was a commercial real estate broker by trade. Bob and Jane Ann enjoyed hiking on the mountain trails, taking their jeep to Sedona, AZ, skiing and camping in Telluride, CO and spending time at the ocean in La Jolla and San Diego, CA. He was a lover of all animals having owned three huskies Nick, Thor and Gunner. He had an infectious smile, a great sense of humor, loving life and making the most of everyday. By far the greatest love of his life was his family and grandchildren and their visits to Fountain Hills. They enjoyed walking around Fountain Hills Park, attending the annual art fair and visiting the Sugar Bowl in Old Town Scottsdale. Summers were spent in Springfield, IL at their second home. He was an inspiration to all and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife Jane Ann; stepdaughter Michelle (partner Marty) Loeser of Springfield and two grandchildren, Jennifer (Justin) Ackerman and Madelyn (partner Gaige) Loeser; great grandchildren Charlie and Hannah Ackerman, Paige and Paiton Robinson and soon to be Paison Robinson; sister Sharon (Lee) Kasey, nieces Leeanna Kasey, daughter Rachael and son Isaac and Darena (Ron) Rardin, son Robert; and special friend Jani Abramson and his favorite buddy Skittles the cat.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Mound Cemetery in Charleston.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center or Fountain Hills Community Center Fountain Hills, AZ.
