Robert D. Smith, Sr.
Robert D. Smith, Sr. 74, of Belleville, died at 2:36 pm, Monday, December 5, 2022. He was born October 7, 1948, in Springfield, to John J. and Juanita M. Coffey Smith. He married Rosemary Summers on July 27, 1969, and she survives.
Also surviving are two children, Jennifer Smith of Belleville and Robert D. (Antoinette) Smith, Jr. of St. Louis; one grandson, Cole Smith of St. Louis; one sister, Pamela Racila of Springfield; one brother, John D. (significant other, Angela) Smith of Burgaw, NC and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert was a US Air Force Veteran. He was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in O’Fallon. He was an over the road truck driver and owner and operator of RKS Transfer.
He enjoyed motorcycles, boating, baseball, football and especially liked watching movies.
Graveside Service: 11 am, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.
