Robert Calvin Condrey

Robert Calvin Condrey, age 69, of Green Creek peacefully passed away at home Friday, July 9, 2021, after a long battle with illness. He was the son of the late James Louis and Georgia Mae Condrey. He was born and lived in Henderson County, NC until he moved to Green Creek in 2014.
As a charter member of Upward Baptist Church, he had an unwavering faith in God. He enjoyed mentoring young teens in and out of Sunday School. He was a big part of the Deaf ministry that began at Upward. Influenced by gospel music, he became a talented singer who was in high demand.
Throughout his life, he had a love for the great outdoors, which he referred to as “my cathedral, a place to commune with God”. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking pleasure in teaching others skills in hunting and fishing. Stressing gun safety and taking care of the environment was a top priority.
Bob was often described as a proud man. He had a sacrificial heart and was the first to step up for those in need. He loved to make people laugh with his humor, jokes, and pranks. He is described by his wife as “Peter Pan in disguise”.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Beulah Annie Condrey; his two daughters, Vahetta Hewitt and Candy Morrison (Mike); five grandchildren, Robert, Riley, and Kyra Hewitt, Halee Condrey and Coleman Bounds.
A ceremony of “Celebration of Life” will be open to family, friends, and public on July 17th at 2 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.
