Rita A. (Endres) Sidener
Rita A. (Endres) Sidener, 85, passed away on September 16, 2022 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born December 20, 1936 in Springfield to Mary (Stanton) and Joseph Endres. She married James Sidener on November 20, 1965 and he preceded her in death on December 30, 1986.
She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy class of 1954. Employed by St. John’s Hospital EEG Lab, Illinois National Insurance and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 51 as a bookkeeper for 39 years retiring in 1997.
She loved playing slots at the Peoria Boat, Bingo on the Alton Boat, playing poker and scratch-offs and was very lucky at times. She loved to cook chili, spaghetti sauce, lasagna and chocolate cake “called Rita Cake.” She made poor boys meat or BB Que for “Grandma Moores” birthday party for several years for 100 people or more.
She started the ’54 SHA “Lunch or Dinner” “Lunch Brunch” starting with 3 members, Rita (Cadagin) Norris, Pat (Fontana) Eberding (deceased), which increased all the time up to 14-15 members for 65 years, lately at the KC Hall on Iles. Some were boarders from out of town and one from Ursuline (Teresa Rock).
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Petey Sidener on September 2, 2018, daughter, Tamara on August 13, 1995, brother, Joe Endres, Jr. and two sisters, Mary Lou Jones and Kathleen Burgar, and her cat “Ditty” who was with her for 26 years.
She is survived by brothers, John (Pete) (Jackie) Endres, Jim (Suzie) Endres, sisters, Linda (Jack, deceased) Rotherham and Dorothy (Dale) Ciotti. Granddaughters Nicole Smith, Kami Sidener and Kiara Sidener, great-grandson Marc Fagan and Rhiatt, stepsons, James (Rick) Sidener, Danny (Sandra) Moon (stepdaughter) and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation: 9:30 – 10:30 am, Monday, September 26, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Monday, September 26, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home -Springfield with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
