Richard “Rick” Jon Mayberry, 73, died Friday, July 28, 2023, at his home following a battle with cancer. Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 7121 Mount Vernon Rd. SE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral to follow at 2:15 p.m.

Rick was born on April 13, 1950, in Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Delbert and Wilma (Blanchard) Mayberry. He graduated from Midland High School in 1969. On Aug. 30, 1969 he married Nancy McAtee. Shortly after they were married, Rick began working at Hundwardsen & Walters in Clarence, Iowa, as a tractor mechanic for 18 years. After that, he worked as a Lifetime Cookware Representative until he retired in 2023.

In 1974 Rick was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He loved sharing the Good News of God’s Kingdom with anyone who wanted to talk. It was his strong faith in the Bible’s promise of a resurrection back to life on a paradise earth that helped him remain positive and loyal to Jehovah to his death.

Rick is survived by his wife Nancy; four children, Kirk (Muriel) Mayberry, Dena (Todd) Bircher, Bret Mayberry and Tracy Cousins; six grandchildren whom he loved very much, Jonathan, Abraham, Ashlyn, Ericka, Gavin and Luna May; and his sister, Wanda Blankenship.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings Jerry Mayberry, Bobby Mayberry, Sandy Davidson, Jim Mayberry and Cheryl Burmahl.
