Richard (“Dick,” “Whitey”) L. Campbell passed away at his home Sept. 3, 2023. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 7 p.m.in the Monarch room at Teahen Funeral Home.
Dick is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Barb; two daughters, Tammie (Rob) Harbin and Jennifer (Todd) West; and grandchildren, Andrew (Sarah), James West, Natalie, Evelyn, and Robin Harbin. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Idel, brother Donnie and sister Katie.
Dick was born April 1, 1947, in Cedar Rapids. He married Barb Holeton on Dec. 12, 1970, in Cedar Rapids. He was a Marine and served in Vietnam. He was an Ironworker through Local 89 for 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends hunting, fishing, camping and cheering for the Hawkeyes. He spent many hours before and after retirement tending his yard and gardens. He received many compliments for his flowers. His grandkids were his pride and joy. When he was tired, he relaxed in his swing in the shade of his crab apple tree.
