On Jan. 19, 2023, Richard “Dick” Frank Schuller left us to join his deceased parents, John and Celia Schuller; wife, Twila; daughter, Patricia Bjornsen; four brothers, George, John, Bob and Dean; and two sisters, Maxine and Ruthadelle.
Dick was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Oct. 9, 1929. He attended Fennimore, Wis., High School, where he played shortstop on the baseball team. After high school, he entered the military and served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He served his country from 1947 until honorably discharged from the Marines in 1954 as a sergeant. He then attended barber college and worked for Goodales Barber Shop for 14 years. After that he worked as a printing Press Operator for Superior Press and Huk Printing for 22 years. He retired in 1990, but still cut hair part-time for the next 20 years because he loved talking to people and always had a good story to tell his customers.
In 1950, Dick married the love of his life, Twila Blauser, and they had three children. She passed away in 2008. After she passed away, he spent time with his second love, casinos, golfing and fishing. He enjoyed playing Wii with his grandkids, watching his grandson, Jasper, play baseball, and appreciated all the pictures his granddaughter, Maddie, made him. In the summer, he would spend time in Canada and winters in Florida fishing, catching many small and large mouth bass.
He leaves behind his son, Donald Schuller, and his significant other, Susie; daughter, Sherilyn Schuller; nine grandchildren, Josh Schuller, Angie (Jason) Jones, Jake (Kristin) Schuller, Jillian Bjornsen, Dylan Bjornsen, Brandie Bjornsen, Tara Cable, Bradley Cable and Drew Cable; many great-grandchildren and even one great-great-grandchild; brother, Gary Schuller of Fennimore, Wis.; and sister, Phyllis Ann Jarett of Hazel Green, Wis.
Dick will be remembered as a person you could count on. He was a great son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
The family would like to thank the all the amazing nurses and staff at St. Luke’s Hospice Center. Their love, kindness and guidance were immeasurable. They would also like to thank the staff at Garnett Place for their kindness and care, and two very special friends from Comfort Care, Carrie and Mel. And especially to his granddaughter and guardian angel, Angie Jones.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, followed by a Funeral Service at 2 p.m. A Private burial will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Hospice.
