Renee Kay Case passed away at home on Aug. 11, 2023, at the age of 72, after battling a lengthy illness.

She was born to Ross and Nadine Oliphant on Oct. 7, 1950, in Baraboo, Wis. The family relocated to Cedar Rapids when Renee was a child. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. She completed Nurses Training at St. Luke’s Hospital in 1975. She provided comfort to many throughout her years as a nurse. Her next adventure took her on the road as a Health Physics Technician in the Nuclear Power Industry. She traveled and worked from coast to coast developing lifelong friendships. These relationships combined with those from high school created a very tight-knit family, loving and loyal throughout her life. She was very proud to call so many of you dear friends.

Renee took pride in creating and cultivating beauty in her world. She grew some of the most beautiful vegetable and flower gardens, and her green thumb continued indoors to her wonderful array of house plants. She enjoyed creating her own jewelry and sharing it with others brought her great joy. Renee loved all creatures great and small and provided an amazing life for her many pets.

Renee loved her family. She and her daughter Stacy shared a very special bond beginning with sharing the same birthday. This connection led to many adventures, misadventures, laughs and the two were forever banned from being Pictionary partners. She absolutely adored her grandchildren Conner and Rian.

Renee lived passionately, fiercely and freely. She showed kindness and compassion to many along her journey, many times in the midst of her own storms. She is loved and will be missed.
