Ralph Gary Miller, 77, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023 in Newhall. Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Teahen Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.

Ralph Gary Miller was born April 11, 1945, to parents Ralph and Gloria (Willman) Miller. He grew up in Dubuque, Iowa, living with his maternal grandmother, Stella Willman, near his mother and three younger siblings. After graduating from Dubuque Senior High in 1963, Gary started a job as a Local 89 Union iron worker, where he proudly worked for over 40 years and made close ties with fellow iron workers. He loved to reminisce about his buddies and the “good old days.”

He enjoyed gardening, “piddling and fiddling” on house projects, blues music and Hawkeyes football. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Chris Green; and his brother, Harley “Buttons” Poling, who died at age 15.

He is survived by seven children, Gary Lee (Suzie Rhomberg) Miller, Dubuque, Barbie Green, La Quinta, Calif., Matt (Heidi Kimm) Miller, Swisher, Christine Miller, Keystone, Holly Martin, Cedar Rapids, Darrin Miller, Tempe, Ariz., and Manessa Miller, Ripon, Wis.; 12 grandchildren, Trena, Brianna and David Miller, Jade Green, Belle and Brycen Miller, Alexis and Tanner Miller, Clayton, Cora and Cruz Martin, and Greyson Siewert; three great-grandchildren, Mateo Miller, Elijah Ayers and Kaillyus Askew; two sisters, Sarah (Danny) Keith, Selma, Ind., and Susan (Jack) Ragan, Daleville, Ind.; two nieces and nephew, Echoe Carey, Ellen Bowden, and Jeff (Nicole Bowers) Keith; and their children, Sidney Howard, Hallie and Macie Bowden, and Aubree Keith; and two step-grandchildren, Dylan and Michael Dean.

He was blessed to have spent quality time with his family members before his passing. He leaves behind warm memories and witty sayings his family is sure to repeat for years to come.
