Patrick J. White, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and will be Concelebrant by Rev. Gary Mayer, Rev. Tony Kruse and Rev. Mark Ressler. Burial: Buffalo Cemetery, Hiawatha. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and again on Saturday at the church after 9:30 a.m. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Patrick was born in Dyersville to Henry and Florence (Ressler) White on Sept. 22, 1941. He graduated from St Paul’s High School class of 1959, Worthington. Pat married Carol Recker on Feb. 9, 1963, at Immaculate Conception Church, Sand Springs.

Pat began his married life as a farmer, then studied at Devry College in Chicago which led to a career at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids. Other professions included: salesman at Sears, Realtor, then retiring from car sales after positions at Gruber Motors, Bruce McGrath, Bob Zimmerman and Allen Motor Company. He enjoyed serving the City of Hiawatha as a member of the Water Board after retirement. Pat was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and was a devoted usher.

Pat was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He always was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He loved everything nature, including gardening, hiking, birds, and butterflies. He enjoyed playing Euchre and solving crosswords. Above all, Pat loved spending time with his family. Pat was very active in his children’s and their friends’ lives and always was the first to volunteer his time coaching or to play a pickup game. Pat was the biggest fan of all of his children and grandchildren and attended any activity they were involved in. He loved to cheer on the Cyclones, especially in football.

Pat is survived by his wife Carol, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage; his children, Sue (Jeff) Christensen of Anamosa, Don (Jennifer) White of Cedar Rapids, Dean (Ginny) White of Newport Coast, Calif., Dan (Erica) White of Springfield, Mo., Sharon (Joe) Vanek of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren Brad, Kara (Susie), Seth, Taylor, Lauren, Ashley, Lucas, Audrey, Valerie, Tommy; great-grandchildren, Sophie and Tavaris; brothers, Thomas White of Cascade, Tad (Cathy) White of Dubuque; and a sister, Angela Kruse-Oberbroekckling of Dyersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Florence White; and brother, Roy.

A memorial fund has been established in Pat’s name.
