Milo J. “Soc” DeMeo

Milo J. “Soc” DeMeo, 90, of New Philadelphia, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 in Community Hospice-Truman House at New Philadelphia following a period of declining health.

Born at Canton, he was the son of the late Michael and Geraldine (DeSerio) DeMeo and a graduate of Canton City Schools. An honorably discharged veteran, “Soc” served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War and had retired from the former IF Manufacturing at New Philadelphia where he had worked in the foundry. He was a lifetime member of both the New Philadelphia VFW Post 1445 and the New Philadelphia Elks and also a member of Scared Heart Church at New Philadelphia.

On August 6, 1953, “Soc” married Patricia Ann (Bertoline) DeMeo, who survives, and together they shared over 68 years of marriage until his passing. Also surviving are a son, Marc (Mieke) DeMeo of New Philadelphia; a brother, Ronald (Sisty) DeMeo of New Philadelphia and two sisters, Mary Donna DeLuca of Arizona and Michelle Smart of Dover.

In addition to his parents, a son, Rod “Chico” DeMeo, also precedes him death.

In keeping with his wishes, “Soc” is to be cremated and a funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, November 1, 2021 at 1 PM in Sacred Heart Church at New Philadelphia with Father Jeff Coning officiating. Inurnment is to follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military honors. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling the arrangements.
